Nevada Inks $55M Deal After Losing FLSA Immunity Challenge
The state of Nevada has agreed to pay $55 million to a group of correctional officers to settle a long-running lawsuit over uncompensated off-the-clock work. The settlement, approved by a federal judge, will provide approximately 18 1/2 minutes of unpaid overtime wages and damages per shift worked for the correctional workers. A portion of the settlement will go towards attorney fees, while the lead plaintiffs in the case will receive service awards. The settlement brings an end to a lawsuit that began nearly a decade ago, saving the state from further costs and potential risks.
